ISO certification in Davao
Gap assessment, documentation update, training, internal audit and support through your transition audit, delivered end to end by our expert, experienced, professional and friendly local Filipino lead auditors.
Davao’s demand for certification starts at the quay. Cavendish bananas, pineapple, copra, desiccated coconut and cacao leave through Sasa wharf and the container terminal at Panabo, much of it bound for Japan, China and South Korea, and the importers at the far end audit the packing plants, cold stores and mills that supply them; a packer that wants a standing order from a Japanese wholesaler is asked for ISO 9001, ISO 22000 or a HACCP plan before the first reefer is booked. Inside the city the pressure comes from the contact centres in Damosa IT Park, Matina IT Park and the towers along J.P. Laurel Avenue, whose overseas clients specify ISO/IEC 27001, and from hospitals and contractors answering to the DOH and the DPWH.
Sterling International Consulting has operated in the Philippines since 2009 and works in Davao from its own premises at 1103 Ayala Business Center, Talomo, Davao City 8000. Local Filipino lead auditors cover Davao City, Tagum, Panabo, Digos and Mati from there, building the system with the client’s people, training them and auditing internally; certification itself comes from an accredited body the client selects, since Sterling consults and does not certify.

Delivery from Talomo
Panabo and its container terminal are about 31 kilometres up the coast, roughly 38 minutes by car; Tagum, Digos and the plantations are day trips. Under Sterling OS™ the client picks the depth of help: Design™ guides a firm whose own manager will run the system; Drive™ has Sterling’s team build, document, train and internally audit. Afterwards Sustain™ keeps surveillance audits on schedule and Revise™ handles edition changes. Internal auditor and lead auditor training (five days, 40 hours) runs publicly in Davao or in-house; see the training courses page.

How the certification audit runs at a Davao site
Registrars accredited by JAS-ANZ, UKAS, ANAB, DAkkS or the Philippine Accreditation Bureau audit Mindanao from Metro Manila and fly auditors in; SGS Philippines also lists a Davao office on the Diversion Road in Sasa. Sterling books the audit with whichever accredited body the client or its buyer prefers and sells no certificates. For an exporter the scope question comes first: a grower with several farms, a packing plant and a city office is normally certified as a multi-site organisation, with the farms sampled provided the central function controls procedures and internal audits. On site the auditor follows fruit from harvest through packing and cold storage to the reefer, checks the pest-control, water and chemical records behind the HACCP plan and interviews line supervisors. A Sterling pre-assessment audit walks the route first.
PEZA locators, the city and public tenders
The Davao City Investment Promotion Center, created by City Ordinance No. 2269 in 1994, assists with permits, business matching and referrals. PEZA has kept a business centre at Damosa IT Park since September 2017. Vendors to the city, to national agencies’ regional offices or to the DOH hospitals will find the government agencies guide and the government organisations page useful. The firmest rule falls on contractors: DPWH Department Order No. 110, series of 2024, phased ISO 9001 in by category, reaching Medium “A” firms on 1 January 2026 after Large “A” (January 2025) and Medium “B” (July 2025), with Large “B” covered since 2011; see the DPWH contractors guide.
ISO 9001:2026 and ISO 14001:2026 for Davao businesses
ISO issued the ISO 9001:2026 standard, its sixth edition, on 16 September 2026; certificates to ISO 9001:2015 have until 30 September 2029 to move across. ISO 14001:2026 was published earlier, on 15 April 2026, with a transition that ends on 30 April 2029. Guidance sits on the ISO 9001:2026 transition hub; the environmental edition has its own ISO 14001:2026 transition hub and free ISO 14001:2026 gap check.
Two local implications: plantations and packing plants must treat climate-related risk as evidence rather than a policy line, since drought years shape banana output and the Samal bridge’s Writ of Kalikasan in July 2025 shows how closely the Gulf is watched. For contact centres, quality culture and ethical behaviour will be tested through shift staff; the quality culture evidence guide shows what an auditor accepts.
What sets the budget and the calendar
No figures are quoted here. The drivers are the standards combined in one audit, the headcount and shifts, the number of farms, plants and offices in scope, whether an existing system only needs updating, and the audit days the body assigns. Each is explained on the certification cost page and, for the new edition, the ISO 9001:2026 transition cost page; the ISO gap-analysis tool shows where the work will fall.
Proof without client names
Sterling names no Davao client; the signed statements of certified companies are on the client feedback wall, while agribusiness, BPO and healthcare engagements appear in the ISO and GRC case studies and in the case studies by sector. Since 2002 the group has logged 8,100+ client engagements in more than 60 countries.

Frequently asked questions about ISO certification in Davao
Our packing plant is in Panabo and our head office in Lanang; one certificate or two? One, if the head office controls the documented procedures, the internal audit and the management review for both sites. The certification body then treats the company as a multi-site organisation, audits the central function fully and samples the plant; Sterling writes the system so that central control is visible.
Do banana exporters need ISO 22000, or is HACCP enough for Japanese and Korean buyers? Most importers accept a HACCP plan for fresh fruit packing, and some ask for GLOBALG.A.P. on the farm. ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 becomes the request when the product is processed, such as frozen banana or coconut products, or when the buyer is a retailer.
Which certification bodies audit in Davao, and do auditors fly in? Most accredited bodies audit Mindanao from Metro Manila and fly auditors to Davao for the site days, with document review done remotely beforehand; SGS Philippines lists a Davao office in Sasa. Sterling works with any accredited body the client chooses.
How does the Sterling team reach Tagum, Digos or a plantation in Davao de Oro? By road from the Talomo office. Panabo is about 38 minutes away and the provincial capitals are day trips, so workshops and internal audits are scheduled in blocks of consecutive days, with document work and corrective-action follow-up handled online between visits.
A United States client wants ISO/IEC 27001 from our Matina IT Park contact centre; what is involved? A risk assessment covering the client accounts, a Statement of Applicability, the applicable Annex A controls, an internal audit and a management review, then the certification body’s two-stage audit. Sterling runs the project with the operations team so night shifts are trained too, because the auditor will interview agents.
We are a Davao del Sur contractor; which DPWH category must already hold ISO 9001? Department Order No. 110, series of 2024, brought Large “A” contractors in on 1 January 2025, then Medium “B” on 1 July 2025, then Medium “A” on 1 January 2026; a 2011 order had already covered Large “B”. The certificate must be in hand at bidding, so build and internally audit the system well before booking the audit.
